Monday morning...no, wait...it's Tuesday

It's Mardi Gras.  I'll post some pictures (and possibly some video) from Leo's Mardi Gras celebration at school today.  The problem with video is I have to find a way to edit out any video of other students before I can post it.  I've got some great dancing video of Leo.  Turns out he's as good a dancer as his father is.

Not too bad of a weekend.  It went too fast.  The weather didn't cooperate perfectly but it was ok.  You can't argue with 75 degrees in February.

I caught a few fish.  But never more than one in a trip and the trout were right at the legal size limit so I didn't keep any.  I took the kayak out Sunday as the cold front was blowing in.  It was a Small Craft Advisory but I wanted to see how bad it would be.  I've got some good video of that to put up later.

My father called with an offer to come get raw oysters.  I had a dozen and half at dinner last night.  Leo even had one.  It might be his last one - but he did try it!

And now, a new feature to the Vlog that I'm calling...Somethin' Somebody Said...
"I think Leo slept with dog food"

Happy Tuesday!

Happy Valentine's Day

Well, Good evening Vlog readers.

It's a little after 8pm, Valentine's Day night.  The house is quiet, a sitcom is on the TV and my valentine and I are enjoying a quiet evening.  Lily and Leo are long, long gone.  The windows are open and a pleasant, 60 degree breeze is blowing through the house.

We had a nice dinner out for Valentine's Day.  And I took a quick video interview of Leo from the table...the Kitchen Table...

Happy Valentine's Day

It's a beautiful Valentine's Day in central Florida.  Mid-low 70's and sunny.  Of course, there is a lot of grumbling by Floridians because we're beginning our days in the 50's and we find that a bit chilly.

Diane and I were in Leo's class to help with his Valentine's Day party.  The kids had cookies and exchanged cards and a good time was had by all.  Diane and I had a few minutes to share a bagel together and the we hopped back to his class to help them in Tech Lab.

Tonight we are all going to dinner and sitting in the "Kitchen" at Buca di Peppo.  They have a single table set up in the kitchen.  Right next to the food being prepared.  It's kind of neat and the kids like it.

I'm sad to report that the butterfly Lily has been caring for died.  It survived the weekend trip to Punta Gorda but by Monday morning, it's lifeless, one-winged body was laying at the bottom of the habitat Lily had built for it.  (un)Fortunately, Lily is getting somewhat accustomed to these little "pets" dying so each one is a little easier than the last.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Cold this morning.  Looks like we hit 40 over night.  And with the wind, we have a windchill in the low 30's.  So instead of fishing, we're making muffins!

School morning announcements

Lily had a small acting part in this morning's announcements done at school....

It's a couple of minutes into the announcements (if you can move the timer, move it to 2:30) - won't take too long...

We find ourselves at Friday, once again.  Definitely one my top ten favorite days of the week.

KeeWee and I visited our vet this morning.  Seems like a lot of vet visits since August.  Not just for KeeWee of course.  Anyways, she has some kind of allergic reaction.  Not sure what to.  We are going to change her food up and get her skin back under control.  Personally, I think she's a little more sensitive to the Brazilian Pepper plant we have growing in the back yard.  We really need to try and keep her inside more and not let her hang out under the tree stalking the squirrels.

Yesterday afternoon Leo found a wounded butterfly.  Seriously wounded.  It was missing an entire wing.  It is no doubt one of the monarchs we have grown and hatched ourselves.  Well, my tender loving kids have built a small habitat for it and filled it with flowers and butterfly food (sugar water - we learned that at the Butterfly Estates in Fort Myers).  I really expected it to have been dead by this morning.  However, on the contrary, it has perked up and was actively eating from the pollen of the flowers.  Of course, the butterfly and its habitat will be traveling with us this weekend.

I don't get to have lunch at home with Diane and Leo today.  Seems Leo's classmates are all meeting at the park afterschool.  :(

Lunchtime

Ok, I've found a really easy way of posting videos to the vlog.  Everyone is in on the action now.  Lily spent yesterday evening video taping her and Leo doing all kinds of skits.

Turns out the best videos are the ones we get just video taping every day events.

Like this one of Leo making his lunch...

Leo was climbing up on the counter to get a glass for a drink of water and as he slid down his shorts caught a handle.  I asked him, "so, now what are you going to do?". He said quite confidently, " I'm gonna climb back up and try it again!"

I don't really know how to set up what you are about to watch.  Lily had a song she was going to sing during Parent's Day.  We finally talked her into singing it for your video enjoyment and then Leo joined in.  Enjoy...

Monster Jam

We went to Monster Jam a couple of weeks ago.

And while it would be obvious to you that Leo would have enjoyed it, I submit this video taken while sitting next to Lily.

I've put up the text of what she is saying.  You can decide for yourself if she was enjoying herself or not.
